The Construction “Trakia” Motorway Lot 4 is on Schedule
“The construction of Lot 4 of “Trakia”Motorway – within the section of Zimnitsa to Karnobat is on schedule. Next year with the opening of the motorway we will fulfill a 40-year dream of the Bulgarian people to travel quickly, comfortably and smoothly to the sea”. This was announced in Yambol, by the Chairman of the Management Board of Road Infrastructure Agency Mr. Lazar Lazarov at a work meeting with the media. Under discussion was the progress on the project "Completion of Trakia Motorway, lots 2, 3 and 4”, financed by the EU Cohesion fund and by the State budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through the Operational Program “Transport” 2007-2013.
Currently the most complex and longest section from the project - about 50 km is being implemented, specify eng. Tsveta Timeva, Director of Directorate “Execution of projects under Operational Programme “Transport” and the Cohesion Fund" in RIA. With its completion we will have 360 kilometers Motorway along Corridor № 8 on the territory of our country, added eng. Timeva.
Construction of Lot 4 is implemented by Association JVs“Trakia IV” for 209 646 720 BGN. Within the section it has 31 road facilities - three road junctions, three bridges, one railroad overpass and 216 small facilities, said the Lot 4 builder’s representative Eng Boryana Dolapchieva. Under the requirements of the ecologists, fences have been built, in order to protect small animals and birds. We are currently working on Lot 4.2, about 34 km and thanks to the good weather we are working at a good pace. Currently, 331 people are working at the site, said eng. Dolapchieva.
Mr. Lazarov acquainted the media on the progress of the major infrastructure projects, being tackled and that should commence in 2013 with funding from the Operational Program “Transport”. Among the most important are the motorway “Maritza”, which is divided into two lots and is expected to be ready in 2013, and the "Struma" motorway - in sections from Daskalovo to Dupnitsa and from Sandanski to Kulata. In the middle of next month the contractor for Lot 2 - from Dupnitsa to Blagoevgrad will be also selected.
Motorway “Hemus” will be built in the next programming period 2014-2020. Currently, we are working on the intersection of motorway “Hemus” with the Sofia ring road – road junction “Yana” which is one of the busiest segments in the country. After its construction, transit traffic will be delivered outside Gorni and Dolni Bogrov. “We will actually improve people’s lives, because in this moment the traffic in these populated places is about 20-25 thousand vehicles per day” explained Mr. Lazarov.
The Project “Completion of “Trakia” Motorway – Lots 2, 3 and 4” is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union through the „Operational Program on Transport“ 2007-2013.
