Eng. Lazarov and Minister Zaharieva inspected Lot 4.2 of “Trakia” Motorway

Compared to the previous inspection , there is a progress and better organization in the construction works  of “Trakia” Motorway, which is funded under the Operational Programme “Transport” 2007-2013. However, the pace of work  is still not sufficient to ensure the completion of the site  within a period of  31th of  May. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ekaterina Zaharieva pointed this during the inspection of LOT 4.2 of the motorway. At the moment there is absolutely no other obstacle the highway to be ready for the beginning  of the active  tourist season, apart the better organization and the supply of inert materials – she said.  

The Chairman of Board of Directors of RIA eng. Lazarov  informed  that the Builder -JVs “Trakia IV”, has lodged a request for extension of the period by 60 days. As of  May 31, which is the period for completion at the moment, that means 1st of August, which is unacceptable, eng. Lazarov said categorically. What we regognised as unconditionally to date is 30th of  June, added the Chairman  of RIA.

The  inspection of the works  of  the latter 34 km from Lot 4 of “Trakia” Motorway was  attended and  by  the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Christian Krastev  and  the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Angel Petrov.

Lot 4.2 of road junction Zimnitsa to Karnobat is the most complex and longest section of the project  for completion of “Trakia” Motorway, financed under   Operational Programme “Transport”. With its implementation,  Bulgaria will have on its  territory 360 km completed motorway along Corridor 8.  The construction works are performed  by Association JVs “Trakia IV and amount to 209 646 720 BGL with included VAT for the whole  Lot 4, with a total length of 49 km.
